Updated: 16:13, 12/03/2024
BAC GIANG - Together with all levels and sectors, Bac Giang youth has promoted the role of volunteers and mobilized social resources to build house for impoverished union members, young people and needy cases as the practical contribution to the program of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in Bac Giang province.

Chu Xuan Thanh (born 2008) in Can village, Huong Gian commune (Yen Dung district) has lived in a new house with his mother and brother for recent months.

Delegates start to build house for disadvantaged youth union members in Cao Xa commune (Tan Yen district).

Thanh's family is miserable. His father passed away, his mother has to undergo regular dialysis while the older brother had a traffic accident and lost his ability to work. Their house was seriously damaged but the family could not repair it.

Wishing to help Thanh reduce difficulties and feel secure in studying, the District Youth Union and Yen Dung District Youth Federation coordinated with a number of unions and local authorities to call for resources to support the family in building a new house. After a period of construction, the house worth 189 million VND (over 8,000 USD) was completed ensuring 3 hard criteria (hard foundation - frame, hard walls - hard roof).

In Cham village of Truong Son commune (Luc Nam district), on this occasion, youth union members are urgently painting, transporting and collecting materials, and helping with the final stages before completing and handing over the new house for Hoang Thi Hoan (born 1972).

Her family has been disadvantaged for many years. She is the main breadwinner in the family who takes care of her disabled husband and three school-aged children alone.

The preliminary statistics and review proved that the whole province still has nearly 1,600 poor and near-poor households and nearly 500 families of national contributors living in housing difficulties that need to be repaired or newly built. Removing temporary and dilapidated houses is an important task, requiring the involvement of the entire political system throughout the province.

In 2024, the Party Committee, authorities, Fatherland Front and organizations of Bac Giang province are determined to eliminate 100 percent of temporary and dilapidated houses for the poor, near-poor households and national contributors. The Provincial Steering Committee was established with members from the Fatherland Front to participate in the campaign.
