Bac Giang promotes cultural heritage values associated with tourism development

BAC GIANG -The provincial People's Committee held the opening ceremony of the Bac Giang Culture - Tourism Week 2024 with the theme "Sacred Tay Yen Tu" and the Tay Yen Tu Spring Festival at the Tay Yen Tu Spiritual – Ecological Tourism Area in Son Dong district on February 21.

Launched in 2019, the Tay Yen Tu Spring Festival and the Bac Giang Culture - Tourism Week have become typical products contributing to positioning the Bac Giang tourism brand. The Tay Yen Tu Spring Festival has spread the unique cultural values and heritage of Truc Lam Yen Tu Buddhist Zen sect associated with the path of disseminating the Dharma of the three founders of Truc Lam sect to many people from all walks of life, helping people and tourists understand more clearly a religious sect with unique characteristics of the Vietnamese people, taking national interests and the benefits of human beings as fundamental factors in each person's religious practice. It has great value not only in the field of religion but also in social and political life, making an important contribution to the process of building the country, protecting national independence and the spiritual life of each person.

A drum performance opens the festival.

During the annual Culture - Tourism Week, a series of activities are held in diverse forms in localities across the province, attracting hundreds of thousands of tourists, thereby contributing to preserving and promoting cultural heritage values, strengthening the promotion of local tourism potential and strengths, strongly boost tourism cooperation between Bac Giang province and other localities nationwide, and linking sustainable tourism development with socio-economic growth in the province.

The Tay Yen Tu Spring Festival and the Bac Giang Culture - Tourism Week 2024 are held from February 20 to 25 (from the 11th to 16th day of the first lunar month) with 17 main activities. Via the events, Bac Giang province wants to bring to visitors the most authentic feeling about the Truc Lam Buddhist space in the sacred land of Tay Yen Tu through activities such as Ly-Tran poetry and literature performances through calligraphy; procession of tablets of the three founders of Truc Lam Buddhist Zen sect from Vinh Nghiem pagoda in Yen Dung district to Ha pagoda in Tay Yen Tu, Son Dong district; displaying the tourism product "The path of disseminating the Dharma of the Truc Lam Yen Tu Zen sect’s three founders".

Before the opening, there was a 45-minute art programme with the theme "Sacred Tay Yen Tu", featuring the origin of Truc Lam Yen Tu Zen sect and the path of disseminating the Dharma; Bac Giang – A cultural, historical and tourist destination; and potential of Bac Giang province.
