“I studied to become an accountant but I changed to work as a fashion designer. Many people wondered about my choice because these two sectors are not related to each other but I believe it is the right choice”, Ly said. Because of her love for fashion, she spent time learning fashion design when she was a student.

In order to gain more experience, Ly worked for some processing garment factories in Hanoi. When she was at work, she took time to make clothes for her relatives and co-workers. Many people liked her products and introduced to others thanks to the beautiful designs at reasonable prices, thus she got increasing customers. However, it was hard to perfect both of works at the same time, Ly had to make a choice. Finally, she decided to choose the job she really fancies.

In 2015, this young girl opened the first Ly Boutique at 61 Tran Nguyen Han street, Bac Giang city selling formal clothes for middle-income people. Thanks to her right orientation choosing the suitable type of products, she gains an annual revenue of nearly 500 million VND (21,465 USD).

In July 2018, she opened another shop in Hanoi. Currently, these two shops create jobs for 6 people with an income of 10 million VND (429 USD) per month.

“In order to catch up with the integration trend, I have taken part in some training courses of business management and marketing. I am establishing a company in coming time tending to brand transfer”, said she.

Apart from Phung Luu Ly, many other young people have successful startups such as Ngo Van Van (born in 1989) in Tan Yen district, Director of Hoa Hoa Herbal Development Co. Ltd, Tran Manh Quang (born in 1988), Director of GOF Agricultural Development Co. Ltd in Viet Yen district and Bach Thi Men in Yen Dung district with a production model of turmeric starch and soybean sprout.

Choosing suitable jobs

Currently, vocational orientation for the youth receives special attention of the governments at all levels, sectors, schools and students’ parents. At a talk to the youth union’s members of Bac Giang city, Mai Son, Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee shared, the youth union’s members have plenty of opportunities for startups, hence they need to take initiative to choose suitable startup models. The most important thing for the success of the youth is to have passion and firmly pursue their ambition. Especially, they need to plan a good business strategy, capturing market mechanism and apply information technology in product promotion.
