Cam Ranh airport to stop making announcements

Updated: 19:14, 08/11/2020
The domestic terminal at Cam Ranh Airport near Nha Trang, one of the country’s busiest, is set to go ‘silent’ from November 16.

Flight announcements will not be made on the public address system after that as part of efforts to reduce noise pollution and improve service quality.

Loudspeakers will only be used in case of emergencies, fire alarms and such instances.

During the transition period, airport staff would guide passengers, an airport spokesperson said.

Cam Ranh will become the fourth airport in Vietnam to go silent after Tan Son Nhat in HCMC, Da Nang, and Noi Bai in Hanoi earlier embraced the global trend.

Cam Ranh Airport was built by U.S. troops for military missions during the American War. Due to its proximity to Nha Trang, a famous beach resort town, it is the fourth busiest in the country after Hanoi, Da Nang and HCMC airports.
