Updated: 10:53, 30/01/2022
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has just sent an official dispatch to the People's Committees of provinces and cities about considering re-opening cinemas from the end of January.

The proposal to reopen cinemas aims to meet the people's demand for cultural and artistic enjoyment, support film distributors in overcoming financial difficulties after nearly two years of being delayed because of Covid -19, realise the dual goals of anti-epidemic and economic development, and create conditions for audiences nationwide to enjoy cinematic works on the occasion of the Lunar New Year in 2022.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism voiced its support for the proposal of localities to reopen their cinemas from January 31.

The document requires cinemas to have Covid-19 response plans on hands and to coordinate with local health authorities to handle cases if there is an outbreak.

Moviegoers are required to have received full doses of vaccine and strictly observe Covid-19 guidelines outlined by the Ministry of Health, including donning face masks, washing hands with sanitiser, maintain safe distance, and avoiding large gatherings.
