Culture-Tourism Week and Tay Yen Tu Spring Festival spreads cultural identities, promotes Bac Giang’s tourism development

BAC GIANG- The provincial People’s Committee of Bac Giang province on the morning of February 9 solemnly held the opening ceremony of the 2025 Culture-Tourism Week and Tay Yen Tu Spring Festival themed "Sacred Tay Yen Tu" at the Tay Yen Tu spiritual- ecotourism complex (Son Dong district).

The event was attended by Nguyen Van Hung, member of the Party Central Committee and Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Nguyen Van Gau, member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Nguyen Thi Huong, permanent Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairwoman of the provincial People’s Council, Nguyen Viet Oanh, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee.

Before the opening ceremony, the delegates offered incense at Ha Tay Yen Tu pagoda. The opening ceremony of the 2025 Culture-Tourism Week and Tay Yen Tu Spring Festival started at 9am with a special art programme.

The northern province of Bac Giang, known as a sacred land with talented people, is a special combination of traditional Kinh Bac culture and cultural identities of the northern midland and mountainous region.

The rich historical and cultural relics have become great resources to promote tourism development and spiritual life.

The province is home to more than 2,000 historical and cultural relics including 6 special national relic sites. The intangible cultural heritages such as Quan ho (love- duet) singing, Ca tru (ceremonial singing), the practices related to the Viet beliefs in the Mother Goddesses of Three Realms and Then practices recognised by UNESCO affirm the diversified culture of Bac Giang.

Besides, Bac Giang province has collaborated with Quang Ninh and Hai Duong provinces to submit the dossier to UNESCO for recognition of the Yen Tu – Vinh Nghiem – Con Son, Kiep Bac Monuments and Landscapes Complex as a world heritage.

The Culture - Tourism Week and Tay Yen Tu Spring Festival, held annually since 2019, has become a bridge between Truc Lam Buddhist teachings and modern life, spreading the ideology ​​"for the nation, for all living beings".

This is not only a spiritual festival but also an opportunity for everyone to contemplate a lifestyle in harmony with nature, as taught by Buddha King Tran Nhan Tong.

Tourists visit the photo exhibition showcasing socio-economic achievements of Bac Giang province.

The 2025 Bac Giang Culture-Tourism Week will take place in 6 days, from February 8 to 13 (from the 11th to the 16th of the first lunar month) with 13 main activities at the Tay Yen Tu spiritual- ecotourism complex, Vinh Nghiem pagoda, Suoi Mo ecotourism site and some other localities in the province.

Bac Giang province is expected to give tourists genuine feelings about the Truc Lam Buddhism space in the sacred land of Tay Yen Tu through a wide range of activities including the procession of the tablets of the three founders of the Truc Lam Buddhist Zen sect to Ha Tay Yen Tu Pagoda and exhibition of the tourism product “the Buddhist Pilgrimage Trail of the founders of Truc Lam Yen Tu Buddhism”.

Besides, a number of festivals, art exhibitions and cultural activities will take place this time, which will give visitors special experience and contribute to honouring the unique cultural values in the land of Bac Giang.

At the opening festival, the delegates, locals and tourists enjoyed an art programme themed “Sacred Tay Yen Tu”.
