Dialogue on scientific dossier of Yen Tu- Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac Monuments and Landscape Complex for UNESCO’s recognition
BAC GIANG- An in-person and online dialogue between the Vietnamese delegation and the international council of monuments and sites (ICOMOS) on the scientific dossier seeking UNESCO’s recognition for the Complex of Yen Tu- Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac Monuments and Landscape as a world heritage took place on November 25 in Paris, France.
The dialogue was hosted by ICOMOS President and 30 ICOMOS independent experts while the Vietnamese delegation in France was led by Vice Chairperson of the People’s Committee of Quang Ninh province Nguyen Thi Hanh.

The dialogue also involved online participants from Vietnam including Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong as the chair, leaders of the department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the 3 northern provinces of Quang Ninh, Bac Giang and Hai Duong and related agencies.
ICOMOS highly evaluated the report on supplementation to the dossier prepared by Vietnam, which supplemented necessary contents to the nominated dossier at the ICOMOS’s request.
The Vietnamese expert delegation attending the dialogue explained and clarified all of the issues raised by ICOMOS, of which emphasizing the statement of outstanding universal values, authenticity and globally outstanding and signature elements of the nominated heritage.
The delegation also clarified the issues related to the 5 criteria of the heritage and affirmed good management of the nominated heritage.
Besides, they highly spoke on the role of the community in conserving, protecting and promoting values of the nominated heritage in the past and at present. They committed to continuing to well protect and preserve the heritage.
Concluding the dialogue, ICOMOS evaluated that the Vietnamese delegation gave good direct answers and well demonstrated the nominated heritage.
ICOMOS added if they need more information about the heritage cluster, they will announce in a timely manner so that Vietnam can supplement and complete the dossier by February 28, 2025 as regulated.
