Updated: 17:36, 11/01/2024
BAC GIANG - With only one month left until the Lunar New Year, businesses in Bac Giang province have exerted efforts to overcome difficulties, maintain jobs, ensure income and take care of  employees on Tet festival.

Due to the global economic crisis in the first 6 months of the past year, the revenue of many businesses in the province decreased, jobs and workers' lives were affected.

Although production activities gradually recovered in the last months of the year, businesses still faced difficulties. However, up to now, more than 300 businesses have planned to give Tet bonuses to nearly 180,000 employees with an average of 6.7 million VND per person, an increase of 17.46 percent compared to the previous year.

Typically, Yamashita One Member Company Limited in Noi Hoang Industrial Cluster (Yen Dung district) was established in 2016 and specialized in manufacturing car seat covers for Japanese auto manufacturing corporations with about 500 workers.

In 2023, car consumption in the world sharply fell so the number of orders were cut. However, to encourage labourers, this year, the company still gives Tet bonuses to them with an average of 6 million VND per person along with a gift from the trade union.

Regarding the garment industry, in the first 6 months of 2023, orders at Crystal Martin Vietnam Co., Ltd. in Quang Chau Industrial Park (Viet Yen) also decreased. The enterprise has exerted efforts to maintain jobs for workers. Since August 2023, the production lines have recovered with more orders.

CEO of the Company Oun Kaowsiri said: "The Tet bonus is not a mandatory rule, but most employees expect it as a recognition for their contributions during the year. Therefore, we have asked the finance and accounting departments to balance resources and keep the bonus level the same as last year to encourage and thank employees for their commitment and efforts to overcome difficulties with the business".

Recently, departments, branches and localities have proactively implemented solutions and activities to care for the lives of workers, especially during the Lunar New Year. The Provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs urged and required businesses to review salary regimes, bonus plans and publicize them early so that employees can feel secure in production.

At the same time, the Department coordinated with relevant sectors to grasp the labor relations situation, especially businesses facing difficulties due to the effects of the world economic recession to have timely support and prevent collective work stoppages.

Since early January, local businesses have organized many meaningful activities to express gratitude for the labour’s contributions after a year of hard work and support impoverished cases to welcome a warm spring.

Recently, the Trade Union of Hosiden Vietnam Co., Ltd. In Quang Chau Industrial Park (Viet Yen) coordinated with business leaders to give 310 gifts (each worth 500,000 VND), 383 bus tickets worth 475 million VND to workers who are far from home and in difficult circumstances.

Similarly, the grassroots trade union in Luxshare - ICT Van Trung Co., Ltd in Van Trung Industrial Park (Viet Yen) has reviewed and prepared a list of nearly 1,000 disadvantaged workers from the provinces: Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Ha Giang and Cao Bang then coordinated with the Provincial Confederation of Labor and Trade Unions of Provincial Industrial Parks to arrange vehicles to take them home on Tet holiday.

In addition, the Union launched the program "Tet Reunion - Spring Connecting in the Year of Dragon 2024", organized volunteer trips to remote provinces so as to visit, encourage and gift workers in especially difficult circumstances.

Implementing the plan of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor on organizing activities to care for union members and workers on the occasion of the Lunar New Year, the Provincial Confederation of Labor directed the Labor Federation in the districts, cities, the trade union of sectors and industrial park to coordinate with business owners to grasp the situation of enterprises and promptly advise, propose competent agencies to resolve arising problems, prepare conditions and resources to accompany and take care of workers' lives.

According to Chairman of the Provincial Confederation of Labor Nguyen Van Canh, this year's "Tet reunion - Spring sharing" program is associated with "Trade Union Tet Market", "Zero VND booth for workers" to bring best benefits to the employees.

The activities are organized in a diverse and meaningful way under the motto "All union members and workers have Tet", hence creating a connection between union members, employees and trade unions as well as motivation for competition in businesses.
