Former world boxing champion to arrive in Vietnam

Former world boxing champion Shinji Takehara of Japan will take part in friendly matches against Vietnamese boxers on December 29-30.
The event will be held at Hoa Lu Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City as part of Vietnam-Japan Sports and Culture Festival KIZUNA, which aims to celebrate the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

Takehara was the first boxer from Japan to capture the world middleweight title. In 1995, he landed a shot at becoming the World Boxing Association middleweight champion against Jorge Fernando Castro of Argentina and won.
Besides sports events, fans will have a chance to enjoy cultural and musical performances of the two countries. Singer Sakai Nariko and actor and former pop idol Mikio Osawa will also attend the event.
VN-Australia boxing friendly event to take place in HCM City
The Vietnam-Australia boxing friendly event, Victory 8, is scheduled to take place on November 3 in HCM City’s Nguyen Du Gymnasium.
ASIAD 2018: Vietnam earns bronze medal in boxing
Boxer Nguyen Thi Tam won a bronze medal in the women’s 51 kg event at the ongoing Asian Games (ASIAD) in Jakarta, Indonesia, on August 31.
A concert entitled ‘Nam Nhi’ (Macho) will take place in Hanoi on June 30, entertaining audiences with an interesting music experience by blending folk music and beatboxing.
