Hoi An to host assorted activities in celebration of New Year 2022

A wide range of activities are taking place in Hoi An ancient town in the central province of Quang Nam, to welcome in New Year 2022, providing locals and visitors with fresh travel experiences throughout the city after the long period of being badly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Hoi An Lantern Festival will kick off at 7pm tonight at An Hoi bridge, which will be colourfully decorated with Hoi An-styled lanterns. Running until February 15, 2022, the festival will include lively folklore art performances.

A rural market is being held along Nguyen Phuc Chu street, to display handicraft products as well as products which have qualified for the One Commune One Product (OCOP) programme in Hoi An.

Notably, a gala night entitled ‘Hoi An greets New Year 2022’ will be staged on the evening of December 31, to bid farewell to 2021 and ring in 2022.

A programme to welcome the first visitors to the city in 2022, will be organised on the morning of January 1.

According to Truong Thi Ngoc Cam, Director of the city's Centre for Culture, Sports, Radio and Television, activities and events are expected to liven up Hoi An’s streets and rejuvenate their tourism with a good start for New Year 2022.
