International Day of Yoga events held in 40 provinces and cities
The events during the 10th International Day of Yoga 2024 are taking place in at least 40 provinces and cities in Vietnam with participation of tens of thousands of practitioners.
The statement was released by Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Sandeep Arya at the celebration of the 10th International Day of Yoga 2024 held at Quan Ngua Sports Palace in Hanoi on June 20.

The event was also attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang.
Speaking at the event, Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Sandeep Arya said this year, the Indian Government has given the them for the 10th International Day of Yoga in 2024 “Yoga for Self and Society” which stresses the role of yoga for communities.
“The wide interest across Vietnam in Yoga is heartening and I believe that it links with strong belief in health and exercising emphasised by President Ho Chi Minh”, stressed by the Indian Ambassador.
He also noted that Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, in his message to Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, appreciated Vietnam’s enthusiastic contribution towards promoting yoga. The Indian PM also wished “May Yoga bring humanity together, for our health & well-being, and for a greener planet”.
Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang said: “Today we gather not only to commemorate International Yoga Day but also to honour a lifestyle, a cultural heritage, a philosophy that has proudly influenced our lives”.
The celebration is a testament of the growing friendship and cooperation, the strong development of comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and India, added the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
On the occasion, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang and Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Sandeep Arya and other delegates plant a tree, in response to the Plant4Mother Campaign.
Yoga is an ancient Indian practice drawn from Sanskrit word “union” signifying unity between a person’s body and mind (or consciousness); between man and nature. In 2014, the United Nations recognised yoga as a holistic approach to health and well-being and the dissemination of benefits of practicing yoga as contribution to the health of the world population.
