Bac Giang commends 2 students winning APhO medals
BAC GIANG – The Bac Giang Provincial People's Committee (PPC) has recently held a meeting to commend and reward two 12th grader from Bac Giang High School for the Gifted who just won medals at the 2024 Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO), namely Than The Cong with a gold medal and Truong Phi Hung with a bronze medal.
The 2024 APhO was held in Malaysia from June 3-10, bringing together 28 teams with 208 contestants from 27 countries and territories. All of the eight Vietnamese students brought home medals (one gold, one silver and six bronze) at this year event.

After this competition, Cong and Hung were both selected for the national team of 5 contestants to attend the International Physics Olympiad held in Iran at the end of July this year.
Speaking at the event, the PPC Chairman Le Anh Duong congratulated and praised the outstanding achievements of students Than The Cong and Truong Phi Hung together with the contributions of officials and teachers of Bac Giang High School for the Gifted.
He affirmed that this is not only an honor for Bac Giang province but also the country's pride with international friends. This achievement affirmed the right direction of the provincial education sector in discovering, fostering and training excellent students.
On this occasion, the provincial leaders awarded a bonus worth 43.2 million VND from the Provincial Emulation and Commendation Fund and 150 million VND from the Than Nhan Trung Study Encouragement Fund of Bac Giang province to Than The Cong; 18 million VND from the Provincial Emulation and Commendation Fund and 50 million VND from the Than Nhan Trung Study Encouragement Fund of Bac Giang province to Truong Phi Hung and more than 15.6 million VND to outstanding teacher Nguyen Van Doa, who is in charge of training the two students.
The Association of Bac Giang Scientists in Hanoi, a number of members, National Assembly delegate Leo Thi Lich, the Provincial Study Encouragement Association, the People's Committee of Bac Giang City and Lang Giang district also awarded many meaningful gifts to two students and Bac Giang High School for the Gifted.
