Updated: 15:47, 22/03/2021
Japanese medical equipment manufacturer Nipro Corporation has received a license to invest an additional $270 million in its HCMC plant and set up Vietnam’s first dialyzer production line.

It will take the total investment in the Nipro Vietnam plant at the Saigon Hi-Tech Park (SHTP) to $570 million.

Dialyzers are used to perform therapeutic dialysis.

Nipro will start upgrading its plant next month and start production of dialyzers in 2023, manufacturing six million in the first year before increasing the capacity to 48 million a year.

It was licensed in 2016 to manufacture catheters, blood tubing sets, infusion sets, and other products required for dialysis.

Based in Osaka, Japan, it is the second largest dialysis equipment manufacturer in the world.

In 2012, it set up a $250-million plant in the northern city of Hai Phong, its first overseas foray, and in 2016 it began to make transfusion bags and injection tubes.

Domestic travel bouncing back quickly
Many travel companies said domestic tourism is recovering quickly, and even a number of tours for the South Liberation and National Reunification Day (April 30) and the May Day holidays have been fully booked.
Banking industry set for bumper profits
State-owned banks' profits will grow by around 80 percent in the first quarter and private lenders’ by around 50 percent, brokerage SSI Securities Corporation has forecast.
