Nipro will start upgrading its plant next month and start production of dialyzers in 2023, manufacturing six million in the first year before increasing the capacity to 48 million a year.
It was licensed in 2016 to manufacture catheters, blood tubing sets, infusion sets, and other products required for dialysis.
Based in Osaka, Japan, it is the second largest dialysis equipment manufacturer in the world.
In 2012, it set up a $250-million plant in the northern city of Hai Phong, its first overseas foray, and in 2016 it began to make transfusion bags and injection tubes.
