Chances for entertainment and practice created

The first ever Worker Festival in Vietnam Crystal Martin Company Limited (VCM) in Quang Chau IP (Viet Yen district) drew the participation from numerous labors. Targetting at a joyful and healthy playground after working hours, the Executive Board of Trade Union consulted with the company leader to release the workers three hours ahead the regulated time to join the event.

Despite the sweltering afternoon, the labors flocked to the booths making the atmosphere more and more exciting. During waiting for the art exchange attended by many famous singers and the lucky draw with attractive gifts of television, refrigerator, fan and air conditioner, around 6,000 workers participated in many funny collective games. The cheer, smiles and tight hugs for the victory seemed to dispel the tiredness and pressure in regular work.

According to Than Van Kien, Chairman of VCM Trade Union, the labors are considered the enterprise’s key factor, thus VCM invested in building a Multi-functional Sports Hall with a total area of over 1,500 square meters that has been put in use since February 2018. The project comprises of 3 badminton courses, 3 table tennis courses, several running machines and other sports devices, totally worth some 5 billion VND (214,500 USD).

“There are a lot of entertainment forms around the company like karaoke, restaurant and coffee shop instead of any sports yard. Hence, the Multi-functional Sports Hall has partly met the labors’ demand for sports practice and exchange after finishing the shift”, Kien shared.

The Multi-functional Sports Hall of Vietnam Crystal Martin Company Limited has been put in use to meet the workers’ demand on sports practice.

Though New Wing Interconnect Technology Company Limited in Van Trung IP has not arranged the land fund and expense to construct the cultural and sports facilities for the workers, it organizes the male and female football championships twice per year. Before participating in the event, the workers not only spend time on practicing football after the working hour but also hire a mini football field to play exchange matches at least once per week. Adding to a suitable time arrangement, expense support, company leader also play the role of an enthusiastic fan to cheer the labors on their healthy and useful playground.

More cultural systems needed

To date, 230 projects have officially operated in the province, helping create jobs to some 86,000 labors. To improve their cultural and spiritual life, the provincial Labor Federation, Trade Unions in the provincial IPs and enterprises have coordinated to organize diverse exchange activities of the art performance, cooking, football, badminton and folk games.

Besides, 20 motel clubs for young workers maintained by Youth Federation of all levels become a common address for over 500 young labors to meet and share their concern. However, it still cannot fully satisfy the labors’ cultural demand.

Chairman of the Trade Union in the provincial IPs Ngo Duc Thang said a recent survey shows that about 30 local enterprises have arranged football match, courses for badminton and table tennis which is far from meeting the demand and expect of the numerous labors. Due to the lack of entertainment activities and sports yards, most of the labors only stay around their inns.

Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee issued 2 projects on developing the provincial cultural and sports systems for the period of 2015 – 2020, with the orientation toward 2030 and handling some social issues relating to provincial IPs for the period of 2013 – 2018.

In order to gradually enhance the cultural and spiritual life to the labor, besides the involvement of trade unions of all levels, relevant sectors and localities in the two above mentioned projects, it is essential to have the active collaboration of the employers to invest in building the sports halls for the workers.
