BOND concert promises to offer audience a unique experience

Updated: 18:48, 04/10/2024

The “Bond Live in Vietnam” concert scheduled for October 5 evening is expected to bring special things, not only regarding music but also the group’s image and the tour’s meaning to the audience.

The concert is the second one in the “Good Morning Vietnam” music programme jointly held by Nhan Dan Newspaper and IB Group.

In addition to bringing world-class music to the Vietnamese audience, the organisers also wish to promote the image of Vietnam to the world through the music videos of artists participating in the programme.

This is the third time that the string quartet has performed in Vietnam and the largest show with an estimated audience of 5,000.

Unlike commercial shows featuring Bond in the past two decades, “Bond Live in Vietnam” is the group’s first programme to be held for charitable purposes, with all revenue to be donated to victims of Typhoon Yagi in northern Vietnam.

According to the organisers, the four members of Bond will wear Vietnamese ao dai during their performance for the first time, something that has never happened in the history of the quartet’s international tours.

Eos Counsell said they are honoured to wear the traditional Vietnamese long dress because it is so elegant and beautiful. They expressed their hope to perform in that clothing, but noted they need their arms and shoulders to be comfortable to play music.

Tania Davis added that Vietnamese women look very stylish in their attire, so they are really looking forward to performing in those outfits.

Bond is a British string quartet, comprised of violinists Tania Davis and Eos, violist Elspeth Hanson, and cellist Gay-Yee Westerhoff. The group is known globally for their combination of classical and modern music.

The group has sold over five million albums, making it the most successful string quartet in the history of world music.

“Bond Live in Vietnam” is scheduled to take place at the My Dinh National Convention Centre at 8pm on October 5, 2024.
