Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh urged Bac Giang province's authorities to balance disaster recovery efforts with maintaining economic activity, especially in industrial zones, as the province is a key industrial hub in northern Vietnam.
BAC GIANG – In recent days, despite being affected by storm No. 3 and heavy rain, production activities in industrial parks (IPs) in Bac Giang province have been operating normally thanks to proactive response and effort to overcome the arising difficulties.
The water levels on the Thao River in northern Vietnam have surged past 87 meters, breaking a 53-year record, while the Cau River swelled to nearly 29 meters, surpassing a 65-year record high.
Up to 201 people have been reported dead or missing, including 143 confirmed dead and 58 missing due to Typhoon Yagi and subsequent floods by September 11 morning, the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has reported.
Bac Giang – As of September 10, water levels had receded in Son Dong and Luc Ngan districts of Bac Giang province, and transportation had been basically restored. However, challenges persist as water from upstream continues to flow in, making flooding in some rivers more severe. In an effort to minimise damage, Bac Giang is mobilising the entire political system to address the aftermath and quickly stabilise production and people’s lives following typhoon Yagi.
BAC GIANG - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on September 10 inspected and directed the flood prevention and relief effort after Typhoon Yagi in the northern province of Bac Giang. Over the past few days, the floods from upstream have caused water levels to rise on major rivers, leaving many places in Bac Giang flooded, isolated with severe damages.
