Nguyen Thi Oanh crowned champion at Viettel Marathon 2024 in Cambodia
BAC GIANG- The final stage of the Viettel Marathon Series 2024 named Angkor Wat Indochine Marathon powered by Metfone took place in Angkor Wat (Cambodia), the UNESCO world heritage.
Continuing the success of the 2 previous stages in Luang Prabang (Laos) and Hanoi (Vietnam), this stage held in Angkor Wat attracted 9,000 athletes from various countries and territories worldwide.

The final stage of the Viettel Marathon, an international prestigious running event crossing the 3 countries in Indochinese region took place with intense activities when the track and field record holders including Nguyen Thi Oanh, Nguyen Van Lai, Pheara Vann and Terence Lai entered exciting competitions.
In the women’s 21km race, Nguyen Thi Oanh fresh off her victory in the full marathon at the Vietnamese leg on December 1, triumphed again with a time of 1 hour, 21 minutes, and 15 seconds.
Meanwhile, in the men’s 21km race, Nguyen Trung Cuong was crowned champion, clocking in at 1 hour, 10 minutes, and 57 seconds.
In the men’s marathon, runner Nguyen Van Lai showed his level when becoming the first men crossing the finish line with an impressive time 2 hours 20 minutes, 54 seconds, the 2nd highest achievement in Vietnamese marathon history.
In the women’s full marathon, athlete Pham Thi Hong Le became champion with a time of 2 hours, 49 minutes, and 14 seconds.
Previously, the first stage of the running race held in Luang Prabang (Laos) attracted 5,000 athletes when the second one taking place in Hanoi lure more than 10,000 athletes.
All of the race tracks in the 3 stages meet international standards, which was licensed by Asian Athletics Association, with a total prize reaching 150,000 USD.
