Luc Ngan brings OCOP products closer to consumers

BAC GIANG – Targeting to bring the products under One Commune One Product Programme (OCOP) into depth, efficiency and sustainability as key programme for rural economic development in the direction of promoting internal strength and increasing value, in recent years, Luc Nam district (Bac Giang province) has paid special attention to building brands, supporting entities to improve quality as well as promoting and expanding the product consumption market.

According to the assessment of the subjects, after being recognized as meeting OCOP standards, the products are trusted by consumers with expanded consumption market, increased output and revenue.

This is the driving force to promote the development of the rural economy in an endogenous direction, increasing the value of goods.

Truong Son High-Tech Medicinal Cooperative in Truong Son commune has three products recognized as OCOP, including: Golden flower tea bags, golden flower tea and golden flower tea with cordyceps, of which the golden flower tea product meets 4-star standards.

To create a brand, enhance reputation and improve product quality, the Cooperative focuses on the preliminary processing stage, designing eye-catching packaging, ensuring criteria, especially food hygiene and safety, traceability... so the product retains its characteristic flavor and has a long shelf life.

Currently, in addition to the sales channel through agents, the Cooperative also expands product promotion and consumption through e-commerce platforms and other online channels.

Business household Tran Van Tu in Lam village, Truong Son commune is owner of Tu Thuy fermented pork roll which was recognized as 3-star OCOP this year.

Tu said on average his family produces 70-80 kg of pork and horse roll per day. In addition to selling the products in Bac Giang and to tourists, he also supplies them to some agents and wholesalers in the provinces of Quang Ninh, Bac Ninh, Hai Duong and Hanoi city among others.

Recently, the People's Committee of Luc Nam district has just issued a decision approving the results of the evaluation, classification and certification of OCOP products in second period of 2024. Accordingly, four products were rated 3 star this time.

Thus, up to now, the whole district of Luc Nam has 33 products recognized as OCOP, of which 30 were rated 3-star and the rest met 4 star standard.

In order to boost trade promotion and promote OCOP products to consumers, Luc Nam district has actively supported the owners to put products on e-commerce platforms, promote and introduce them on mass media.

Local authority also pays due attention to building a database system, monitoring and managing quality, raw material area codes and traceability while strengthening trade promotion and connecting supply and demand, promoting e-commerce development through e-commerce trading platforms and online sales channels.

According to the leader of Luc Nam district Division of Agriculture and Rural Development, after being recognized as OCOP, the products gain higher value, helping owners increase production scale and revenue.

A number of large enterprises, corporations and supermarkets have ordered and prioritized the district's OCOP products to put into the distribution system. OCOP products are all associated with geographical indications with full and clear evidence of quality, origin, packaging design, traceability stamps and product stories.

In the coming time, the district authorities will further communicate about the OCOP on the media so that officials and people, especially producers, clearly understand the benefits, importance, significance and economic value of participating in the programme.

The district will focus on developing OCOP products associated with building areas of agricultural and medicinal materials with specific growing area codes, in the direction of organic production, ecological agriculture, ensuring food safety and traceability.

The relevant parties also strengthen and upgrade OCOP products that have been evaluated and ranked; promote trade promotion, orient owners of OCOP products to participate in modern sales channels such as supermarket systems, convenience stores, e-commerce trading floors and aim to export potential products.
