Outstanding students at international Olympiads honoured

The Ministry of Education and Training held a ceremony on October 19 to honor the Vietnamese winners of international Olympiads in 2018.

This year, every one of the 38 Vietnamese students participating in regional and international Olympiads won medals, including 13 gold, 14 silver, and 11 bronze medals.

In particular, Nguyen Phuong Thao, a student at Hanoi University of Science - High School for Gifted Students, became the first Vietnamese student to post the highest score among 261 contestants at the International Biology Olympiad 2018 in Iran.

The Vietnamese Biology team also put in its best performance to date with one gold and two silver medals.

Addressing the ceremony, Minister of Education and Training, Phung Xuan Nha, praised the Vietnamese Biology team for recording the highest achievement among the five Vietnamese teams attending international Olympiads.

Notably, he hailed Nguyen Phuong Thao for being the “First Winner” of the Biology contest and Pham Duc Anh, from the Hanoi University of Science - High School for Gifted Students, for winning two gold medals at the Chemistry Olympiads for two consecutive years.

At the event, Politburo member and Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilisation, Truong Thi Mai, sent her congratulations to the students, while valuing the efforts made by students and teachers as well as the care for and support of their parents.

She also presented a Labour Order, third class to Nguyen Phuong Thao and Pham Duc Anh for their outstanding achievements and contributions to the Vietnamese education sector.

Trinh Duy Hieu honored and rewarded for winning silver medal at International Physics Olympiad
(BGO) – As soon as Trinh Duy Hieu was taken to Bac Giang province from Noi Bai Airport (Hanoi), Bui Van Hai, member of the Central Party Committee (CPC), the Secretary of Bac Giang provincial Party Committee (PPC), Chairman of the provincial People’s Council held a meeting at 10 am on July 37 to honor and reward the excellent student.

(BGO) - The organising board of the 19th Asian Physics Olympiad announced the results on May 12 in Hanoi. All eight members of the Vietnamese team won medals, including four gold, two silver and two bronze medals. Trinh Duy Hieu, an 11th grade student of a physics class in the Bac Giang High School for the Gifted bagged a gold medal.
 
Bac Giang’s student selected for Asian Physics Olympiad team
(BGO) – Trinh Duy Hieu, a student of 11 Specialized Physics grade at the Bac Giang High School for Gifted Students has recently been selected as one of eight candidates for National Olympiad Team participating in the Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO). The competition is scheduled on May 2018 in Vietnam, then the Ministry of Education and Training will select 5 students with highest points for 2018 International event.
