Over 100 tonnes of lychee land safely in France

Updated: 15:55, 17/06/2025

BAC GIANG - More than 100 tonnes of early-ripening lychees from Tan Yen district, Bac Giang province on June 14 landed safely at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, marking a major milestone in the export of Vietnamese agricultural products to Europe.

The batch was exported by Mova Plus Joint Stock Company (Czech Republic), departing from Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi and arriving in Paris via budget air cargo services.

A batch of lychees undergoes quality inspection upon arrival in France.

The lychees are now being distributed to major European markets including France, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, the Czech Republic and Norway.

With wholesale prices ranging from 7.2 to 8 euro per kg at wholesale markets, Tan Yen lychees are not only recognized for their superior quality but also demonstrate competitive potential in high-end international markets.

A key destination for the shipment is the Rungis International Market — the world’s largest fresh produce wholesale market — located about 7 km from central Paris.

Covering over 234 hectares and generating more than 10 billion euro in annual revenue, Rungis is a massive food distribution hub serving nearly 18 million consumers in France and across Europe.

Within the fruits and vegetables section of Rungis, which processes roughly 1.1 million tonnes of produce annually, Vietnamese lychees are drawing increasing attention.

Their sweet flavor and uniform quality have quickly won the favor of European consumers. In addition to fresh lychees, frozen lychee products are also gaining popularity in the market.

Other Vietnamese agricultural products such as passion fruit, dragon fruit, fresh coconuts, and premium fragrant rice are also being sold at Rungis, expanding Vietnam’s footprint in the European agri-food sector.

According to a representative of Mova Plus, air freight ensures the freshness of the lychees and compliance with the European Union’s strict quality control regulations.

The modern cold storage and logistics systems at Rungis play a key role in preserving product quality from the moment the cargo arrives until it reaches end consumers.

The presence of Vietnamese lychees at Rungis marks not just an economic achievement but also a significant step in promoting Vietnamese agricultural brands to the global market.

Vietnamese businesses are actively participating in trade fairs and networking events held at Rungis to explore long-term partnerships and expand outlets for high-quality produce.

This successful shipment is further proof of the relentless efforts by Vietnamese enterprises to penetrate international markets and strengthen the global reputation of Vietnam’s agricultural exports.
