Several exporters are actively purchasing lychees in preparation for further shipments abroad. Dragonberry Produce, a U.S.-based importer of tropical fruits, exported its first shipment of Bac Giang lychees to Canada on May 29. These lychees are now being distributed through Canadian supermarket chains.
The company will continue exporting throughout the harvest season to Canada, the U.S. and Japan. It has procured and packaged Phuc Hoa lychees grown in Tan Yen District and is transporting them to southern Vietnam for irradiation treatment. The first sea shipment of several dozen tonnes bound for the U.S. is expected soon.
