Thousands of lychee drying kilns ready for harvest season in Bac Giang
BAC GIANG – With the main lychee harvest season approaching, nearly 3,000 drying kilns in Luc Ngan District and Chu Township of Bac Giang province are ready for operation.
The two areas cover around 17,600 hectares of lychee, with an estimated yield of 110,000 tonnes, comparable to last year’s output.

Local authorities reported that the drying facilities use charcoal, electricity or cold-air drying. Each kiln can handle from 3 to several dozen tonnes of fresh fruit per day, helping process around 20,000 tonnes of fresh lychee into dried products.
Most kilns are located in Tan Lap, Phu Nhuan, Tan Quang and Deo Gia Communes (Luc Ngan) and Quy Son, Thanh Hai, Kien Lao and Kien Thanh Wards (Chu Township). Over 700 kilns were built or upgraded with government support in 2021 to address export disruptions caused by Covid-19.
Experts believe the existing drying capacity is sufficient to meet local demand. In past years, dried lychees from Bac Giang, particularly Luc Ngan, have sold well at good prices.
