Luc Ngan is ready for lychee season
BAC GIANG- Luc Ngan district is preparing for the lychee season with over 10,300 hectares including more than 6,900 hectares cultivated under VietGAP standards, expected to yield around 60,500 tonnes. 80 percent of the expected output will be for fresh consumption while the remaining will be dried, canned or made juice.
This year, local businesses, cooperatives and traders have proactively prepared sufficient supplies, facilities and labour force for consumption of lychee.

Particularly, Bang Thuy Agricultural Cooperative in Giap Son commune planned to purchase from 4,000 to 5,000 tonnes of lychee to export to China.
This Cooperative has worked with partners and arranged warehouse and means of transportation as well as guiding farmers on harvest specifications, preservation and processing methods to meet the requirements of the import country.
According to trader Hua Van Suu in Tan Quang commune, he is purchasing early ripening lychee to bring to the south.
In the main crop, he will set up 3 purchasing points along the national highway 31, expected to gather about 2,000 tonnes of lychee for export. He will also use small-sized vehicles to get directly to gardens to purchase lychee to ensure the quality.
In Tan Hoa commune, Kien Phong Trade and Service Joint Stock Company has prepared enough finance and supplies such as foam boxes, ice blocks, plastic baskets, and bags.
Besides, they arranged staff to the gardens to survey, evaluate product quality and sign consumption contracts. The company also guided farmers on processing methods to meet export standards such as cutting stalks, remove leaves and carefully classify lychees.
Luc Ngan currently has about 20 businesses, cooperatives and traders purchasing lychee.
Particularly, Giap Son Agricultural production and Ecotourism Cooperative cooperates with Phuc Lam company to sell the product to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city.
Other cooperatives including Luc Ngan Green, Phi Dien and Tan Moc are also ready to distribute lychee via social networks and e-commerce platforms.
The district has 13 packaging warehouses (storing about 567,000 boxes), which are close to 20 ice factories at a daily capacity of 18,000 blocks (possibly reaching 20,000 blocks at the peak time), sufficient for packaging 1,5000 tonnes of lychee per day.
In addition, there are around 1,000 household-operated drying ovens, capable of processing around 6,000 tonnes of lychee. These are important conditions to bring Luc Ngan lychee to more markets.
Luc Ngan district has called on businesses and traders to involve in the linkage of production and consumption and maintained supporting task forces to receive orders.
Besides, the district arranged outstanding cooperatives and gardens for domestic and foreign customers to visit and survey, according to Vice Chairman of the district people’s committee Nguyen Van Hai.
Besides, the district people’s committee organised working delegations to survey market in Ho Chi Minh city, Lao Cai and Quang Ninh provinces and connected to distribution corporations, traders, wholesale markets and e-commerce platforms.
The district will provide favourable conditions for businesses, cooperatives and traders to purchase, process and consume lychee. Any recommendations and difficulties will be received and timely resolved.
