Provincial leader welcomes Chinese delegation attending lychee promotion conference

Updated: 16:05, 28/05/2025

BAC GIANG - Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Pham Van Thinh on May 27 held a courtesy meeting with a Chinese delegation attending a conference promoting the consumption of lychee and signature agricultural products and OCOP items of Bac Giang province.

The Chinese delegation included Huang Aidong, Second-Level Inspector of the People’s Government of Chongzuo city in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and Lu Guangrong, deputy head of the People’s Government of Hekou county, Yunnan province.

An overview of the meeting.

At the meeting, Thinh shared the province’s outstanding achievements in socio-economic development. Bac Giang boasts vast land reserves, abundant human resources, attractive investment policies, and is becoming one of the region’s industrial development hubs, he said.

In 2025, the lychee cultivation area across the province remains stable at 29,700 hectares, including 8,000 hectares of early-ripening lychee and 21,700 hectares of main-season lychee. The expected output is 165,000 tonnes. The harvest period is from May 30 to July 30.

Bac Giang always values the traditional Chinese market, as it is a major consumer of local lychees. The province hopes that in this season, in addition to road transport, Bac Giang lychees will also be transported to China by rail, as the province now houses an international intermodal railway station.

The official said he hopes that after this meeting, members of the delegation will help promote and advertise more about Bac Giang’s land, people, and agricultural products, especially lychee, to a wider customer base in China. Through this, lychees can continue to be sold well in the Chinese market, bringing high income to farmers.

Speaking at the event, Huang said that many businesses from Chongzuo city have successfully invested in Bac Giang. He also affirmed that Bac Giang lychees have long been famous, with higher quality compared to those of the same type produced in other regions.

Bac Giang and Chongzuo city both have strengths in economic development and can complement each other. As the two sides have had a long history of trade relations, he believes they will build sustainable trade with Bac Giang.

He hoped that in the near future, the two sides will cooperate extensively and achieve many results in economic development, growing and tightening solidarity together.

At the meeting, members of the Chinese delegation shared many ideas and experiences regarding lychee production, procurement, processing, and consumption.
