Rare archived photos reveal intimate glimpses into Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh's daily life

A rare collection of archival photos capturing President Ho Chi Minh gardening, exercising and going about his daily routine is now on display at Hanoi’s Presidential Palace.

President Ho Chi Minh works alongside people in a garden, in a photo dated back to June 3, 1957.

The photo is part of an exhibition for the 135th anniversary of the birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025), which opened on May 16 at the Presidential Palace.

The exhibition showcases 135 archived photos on the daily life at the Presidential Palace, where President Ho Chi Minh lived for 15 years.

President Ho Chi Minh tends to a vegetable garden in 1957.

During his time at the Viet Bac zone, now a mountainous area north of Hanoi, President Ho Chi Minh constantly reminded soldiers to ramp up production to improve lives.

Even after returning to Hanoi, President Ho Chi Minh continued to work.
