Party and State pay special care to ethnic minority groups: Vice President

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan has stressed that the Party and State always pay special care to ethnic minority groups and ethnic affairs, with many policies having been promulgated to promote the role of ethnic groups in society.

The State official made the statement while hosting a reception for a delegation of 21 patriarchs, from ethnic groups in Lao Cai province.

Vice President Xuan hailed that despite the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, Lao Cai province has gained encouraging socio-economic achievements, with economic growth reported at 9% in the first nine months of 2022.

That result is made thanks to joint efforts from ethnic minorities in Lao Cai province, in which patriarchs play an important role in mobilising people to follow guidelines and policies of the Party, State and local authorities, she stated.

She asked Lao Cai province to make bolder investments in disadvantaged areas, as well as ethnic minority-inhabited, mountainous and border areas while designing more favourable policies and mobilising further resources to care for ethnic minority groups.

She called on the patriarchs to continue to act as role models for their relatives and communities, and work harder to promote their ethnic groups’ traditional values.
