Programme honours outstanding young people with disabilities

The Vietnam Youth Federation has launched the ‘Shining Vietnam Spirit’ programme in 2021 to honour outstanding young people with disabilities who have made positive contributions to society.

Taking place from October to December, the event also aims to call for further support for youths with disabilities while seeking suitable and sustainable models for them to integrate into the community.

This year’s event will honour 50 exemplary youths with disabilities aged 35 years and below who have overcome their physical challenges to affirm their values and contribute to the country.

The honourees will be announced at a ceremony scheduled on December 9 and 10 in Hanoi. They will each be presented with a certificate from the Vietnam Youth Federation and a saving book worth VND10 million.

On the occasion, the organising board also launched a writing contest on the same theme, calling for entries on real stories of energetic Vietnamese young people who have risen above their disabilities to make remarkable progress in life as well as effective initiatives and solutions to support people with disabilities.

Entrants can e-mail their unpublished entries of no more than 2,000 words to congtrithucthanhgiong@gmail.com no later than November 25, 2021.

The winner of the contest’s first prize will be awarded VND10 million. One second, one third and three consolation prizes worth VND11 million in total will also be presented to outstanding authors.
