General Director of the firm Vard Tudorel Topa said that the shipyard is suffering a severe shortage of human resources, but it failed to recruit local workers.

In the first phase of its recruitment plan, it is interested in employing 300 Vietnamese workers, he said.

Vard is one of the important shipyards in Romania and the largest of its kind in Tulcera. Many skilled workers have left the facility for other European countries like Germany and the UK where they can earn about 2,000-3,000 EUR per month compared to only about 670 EUR per month in Romania.
