Rose festival opens in cloud paradise of Sapa

The Rose Festival, themed “Fansipan - The land of roses amidst clouds”, officially opened at the largest rose valley in Vietnam in Sapa town, the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai, on April 23.

The event is the first activity among the 2022 Sapa Summer Festival, which is taking place from April 23 to July 30.

The rose valley has an area of up to 50,000 square metres and consists of more than 300,000 roses, including over 150 the most famous rose variety in Sapa, Vietnam and the world.

The rose valley in Fansipan is expected to create a new highlight, contributing to attracting more visitors to the locality.

Another highlight is a colourful Carnival parade, which will be held in Sapa for the first time. The programme will feature street art performances imbued with cultural identities of ethnic minority groups.

During the National Reunification (April 30) and May Day (May 1) holidays, locals and tourists will have the chance to experience a series of cultural events and festivals such as the reproduction of Sapa love market, a brocade and gift fair, the cultural festival of ethnic groups in Ta Phin commune, the art programme highlighting Sapa’s beauty, and the cultural programme of Mong Cat Cat hamlet.

After the holidays, Sapa will host various cultural activities to attract visitors for summer including Indian Cultural Festival in Sapa, a running race, Buddha's Birthday Festival Celebration, the International Yoga Festival in Fansipan and the art show entitled “Dance on the clouds”.
