Thousands of people participated in the blood donation week that was kicked off in Hanoi on September 28 by the Youth Union of Centrally-run Agencies Bloc and the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion.

By attending the event, each volunteer not only donated their blood but also contributed to supporting 10kg of rice, equivalent to VND150,000, to the charity fund ‘Sharing love - Joining hands to overcome the pandemic’ of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee. The funding for purchasing the rice is mobilised from social resources.

Blood donors at the event were presented with gifts such as eyeglass frames, free vouchers for eye tests, and online reading accounts.

The week is being held following Covid-19 prevention and control regulations in order to ensure the safety of participants.

The organising board has also called on youth union members and blood donors to post and share information about the event as well as pictures of themselves donating blood on social platforms to promote the event to a wider audience.
