The meeting also saw the presence of Dao Xuan Can, former CPC member, former CPC Secretary, Chairman of the provincial Study Encouragement Association; Mai Son, Vice Secretary of the municipal Party Committee, Chairman of the Bac Giang municipal People’s Committee; leaders of the provincial Board for Emulation and Reward; the provincial Former Teachers’ Association; Nguyen Huu Phai, Labor Hero in renovation period, CEO of Bac Giang Garment Joint Stock Company; representative of Viettel Bac Giang branch; leader of the provincial Department of Education and Training; officials, teachers and students of the Bac Giang High School for Gifted Students, along with Hieu’s family.

Trinh Duy Hieu, an 11th grader of the Physics honor class in Bac Giang High School for Gifted Students, has made continuous efforts in studying and won many high results at the contests for excellent students including the first Physics prize at national contest for excellent students in January 2018. After that Hieu was the only student of Bac Giang province selected by the Ministry of Training and Education to participate in the 19th Asian Physics Olympiad.

In the event, Hieu won a gold medal and become one of five members in the national team to compete at the International Physics Olympiad 2018. After two months of training and 10 days of competing in the Olympiad held at Portugal, Hieu bagged a silver medal, bringing the glory to the nation and hometown Bac Giang. Thus, students of Bac Giang High School for Gifted Students have to date grasped 3 international medals during the construction and development.

Secretary Bui Van Hai took the occasion to honor and spoke highly of the efforts and contributions by Trinh Duy Hieu and teachers of Bac Giang High School for Gifted Students. On behalf of provincial leaders, Secretary Hai handed over the Certificate of Merit bestowed by the Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee and a cash reward of 37.5 million VND (over 1,600 USD) mobilized from the provincial fund for emulation and reward to Hieu.

Also, Chairman of the Bac Giang municipal People’s Committee Mai Son also presented 25.3 million VND (over 1,000 USD) as the city’s reward to him. Additionally, Dao Xuan Can and leader of Bac Giang Garment rewarded 10 million VND (430 USD) to teacher Nguyen Van Doa and 50 million VND (over 2,150 USD) to Trinh Duy Hieu.

Besides, the excellent student was presented with numerous flowers, gifts and rewards by the provincial Study Encouragement Association and Viettel Bac Giang branch.

Speaking at the event, Trinh Duy Hieu expressed his sincere thanks to the Bac Giang provincial and municipal leaders, his parents, school, teachers, local agencies, organizations and enterprises for their care. He said the achievement will be a good start for the long path of study and practice waiting ahead and promised to make further efforts to gain higher result.
