Vehicles in Hanoi restricted for President Biden's visit

Hanoi will ban or restrict the movement of certain vehicles on certain streets in the capital city Sunday and Monday for U.S. President Joe Biden's scheduled state visit to Vietnam.

From noon to 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, and from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, trucks and passenger buses (except for vehicles on official duty) will be banned on streets in the districts of Tay Ho, Ba Dinh, Hoan Kiem, Dong Da, Cau Giay, Nam Tu Liem, Dong Anh, Soc Son and Me Linh.

Personal cars and motorbikes will also be restricted on such streets.

During that time, vehicles heading to the city's eastern, southeastern, and southern localities, as well as provinces such as Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Hai Phong, Ninh Binh, and Nam Dinh will be directed to use the Thanh Tri-Phap Van Bridge.

Vehicles moving from the city's eastern and southeastern localities to northern areas will be directed to follow two routes: either Highway 5 - Nguyen Van Linh - Ly Son - Dong Tru Bridge - Truong Sa - Hoang Sa - Vo Van Kiet - Highway 2, or Highway 5 - Thanh Tri Bridge - Phu Dong Bridge - Highway 3.

Vehicles moving from Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh, and Ha Nam to northern provinces such as Vinh Phuc, Phu Tho and Thai Nguyen will be diverted to the detour route of Phap Van - Phan Trong Tue - Phung Hung - Xa La - Van Phu - Le Trong Tan - Highway 32.

U.S. President Joe Biden’s visit September 10-11 comes at the invitation by General Party Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

The visit will celebrate 10 years of Comprehensive Partnership between Vietnam and the U.S. It will be President Biden’s first visit to Vietnam since he took office in early 2021.
