Viet Yen builds safe boarding house model amid pandemic

Updated: 20:30, 16/06/2021
(BGO) - Following the direction of the provincial Party Committee, People's Committee and Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control, Viet Yen district has launched a “general offensive” against the pandemic. Along with transporting workers to their home localities when there are no jobs, the district has cleaned the environment around boarding houses in the villages and areas under lockdown and medical monitoring, so as to soon bring life back to normal.

Reducing population density, cleaning the environment

Unlike the crowded and bustling atmosphere in the boarding houses near the industrial parks (IPs) in the villages: Trung Dong (Van Trung commune) and Nui Hieu (Quang Chau commune) before the Covid-19 epidemic broke out, now it is quiet, with only competent forces stationed on duty and a few people wearing protective gear to deliver goods.

In order to clean up the environment on a large scale in areas with a large number of workers living to eliminate the risk of disease spreading, on June 14, the chemical defense force of the Military Region 1 Command coordinated with the provincial Military Command and local relevant agencies to spray disinfectant in Nui Hieu, Quang Bieu, Nam Ngan and Tam Tang villages of Quang Chau commune; Van Coc 1, 2, 3, and Trung Dong villages in Van Trung commune; the social housing areas of FUGIANG Co., Ltd and FuJi Bac Giang Investment and Development Joint Stock Company in the Van Trung Industrial Park; the district Health Center; and the quarantine area at the Bac Giang Agriculture and Forestry University in Bich Dong township.

In just one day, 21 officers and soldiers together with six special vehicles carrying hundreds of kilograms of Chloramin B completed the decontamination and disinfection of high-risk areas. Then they moved to Tan Yen and Yen The districts and Bac Giang city to continue cleaning the environment to prevent the pandemic.

Build safe boarding houses

Facing the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, boarding house owners have implemented many solutions to ensure pandemic prevention and control. In Trung Dong, Van Coc 1, 2, 3 and Bai Xanh villages of Van Trung commune; My Dien 1, 2, 3 residential areas in Nenh township; Phuc Long and Chua villages in Tang Tien commune, right at the entrance to the boarding houses, there are sanitizers and a board featuring pandemic prevention and control rules. Workers must comply with such regulations and only go out when absolutely necessary.

In Viet Yen district, there are about 20,100 boarding rooms, mainly in Tang Tien, Van Trung, Quang Chau and Hong Thai communes; and Nenh township. By June 15, the number of people staying in boarding houses was about 50,000.

According to Than Van Thuan, Vice Chairman of the district People's Committee and deputy head of the Standing Board of the district Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control, the district has directed the establishment of a "safe boarding house" model in the series of four “safe” in line with the direction of the provincial leaders: "Safe workers - safe traffic - safe enterprises - safe production" to build dormitories in enterprises.

Supporting workers' lives

For workers who are staying in the boarding houses but yet to return to work, the Viet Yen Fatherland Front Committee has a plan to support them and ensure their lives during this period.

According to the Trade Union of provincial Industrial Parks, currently, the unit has arranged staffers to directly receive requests for support from workers in the boarding houses.

"Based on the demand and the available food and foodstuffs as well as those to be shipped from other places, we will immediately transport them to the checkpoints to promptly support the workers,” said Ngo Duc Thang, Chairman of the Trade Union of provincial Industrial Parks.
