(BGO) – On April 7, Chairman of Viet Yen
district People’s Committee (Bac Giang province) decided to bestow Certificate
of Merit to Hua Hong Duc (born in 1961) who works as the security guard at the
district People’s Committee (DPC) for his bravery to save drowning children.
Previously on April 2 during his duty shift at the DPC, Duc heard a youth crying for help near Bich Dong lake on Ho Cong Du Street.

Immediately, he ran over there and detected two children underwater. Their grandmother was so scare that she could not speak anything and the young guy failed to have proper action.
Duc sounded loud and rushed on the lake to rescue the kids. Then the youth followed him to pull them from the lake. At that time, both of them were pale with symptom of apnea.
Luckily, two passing persons gave timely first aid to a kid while Duc saves the other. When both regained consciousness, his grandmother recovered calm and asked Duc to call their relatives to bring the victims home in Tu residential area, Bich Dong town.
After that Duc returned to his normal work and reminded child caregivers to closely watch over the small kids so as to avoid any bad issue.

The Vietnamese Embassy and the labour management board in the Republic of Korea (RoK) on December 20 met and handed over new passports for 17 Vietnamese sailors, who were rescued in a ship accident off the RoK island of Ulleung on December 1.

IMO Award granted to a Vietnamese rescuer: A pride of rescue force
Vietnamese search and rescue officer Tran Van Khoi has recently been honoured with the 2021 Award for Exceptional Bravery at Sea by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO). The award is not only a source of pride for Khoi but also for Vietnam’s maritime and rescue forces.
