Bac Giang promotes chain linkage in agricultural production
BAC GIANG - To achieve the goal of developing modern, sustainable agriculture and diversifying products, the agricultural sector and localities in Bac Giang province have organized many production linkage models, bringing high economic value.
On this occasion, people in Doan Bai, Thuong Thang communes and Bac Ly town (Hiep Hoa) have just finished planting winter potatoes. The entire 20 hectares of potatoes will be purchased by Song Cau Agricultural Cooperative.
Farmers in Xuan Cam commune of Hiep Hoa district apply high technology to produce melons. |
Song Cau Agricultural Cooperative is cooperating with more than 300 households in Hiep Hoa and some neighboring areas to produce commercial potatoes and rice seeds.
Each year, the Cooperative purchases more than 100 tonnes of potatoes and 30-40 tonnes of rice seeds. Nguyen Quang San, Director of the Cooperative said: "Forming an agricultural production chain helps farmer comfortably produce and cooperative have a stable supply for partners. In particular, farmers do not only produce on a small scale to serve consumption but also expand the scale to meet export requirements."
The districts, towns and city in the province establish specialized areas for each type of crop which suits to local soil, water resources and technical infrastructure. These are orange, grapefruit and lychee growing areas in Luc Ngan; medicinal plants in Son Dong; rice, peanuts and potatoes in Hiep Hoa among others.
The concentrated production areas have created a large quantity of agricultural products with diverse varieties and stable quality.
Recently, Bac Giang province has issued many policies to support agricultural development such as: Support for linking production and consumption of agricultural products in the period of 2021-2025; support for the development of agriculture, forestry and fishery in the period of 2023-2030...
Thanks to that, up to now, the whole province has built 322 concentrated specialized areas for rice, vegetables, lychees, oranges, medicinal herbs...; more than 1,500 high-tech agricultural models; 86 production chains associated with product consumption.
The planning of concentrated areas facilitates farmers to apply technical advances in cultivation, ensuring a stable supply, meeting the requirements of the domestic and export markets.
In 2023, the average value per hectare of agricultural land in the province reached 138 million VND, up 31.4% (an increase of 33 million VND per ha) compared to 2019.
To encourage the development of production chains, many localities have actively supported entities in terms of machinery, equipment, agricultural materials and techniques.
According to Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Ba Thanh, agricultural commodity production linked by chains is an appropriate policy to promote agricultural development.
So as to effectively support production and product consumption linkage models, in the coming time, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will continue to coordinate with departments, branches and localities to strengthen the effective implementation of existing policies on supporting production and consumption linkages of agricultural products, creating conditions for agricultural cooperatives to participate in the linkage chain.
