Recognizing his remarkable achievements in production and business, the Vietnam Famers’ Union awarded the Vietnamese outstanding farmer title in 2024 to Nguyen Ngoc Hai (born in 1981) in Nam Dong village, Danh Thang commune, Hiep Hoa district.

Hai established Binh Minh Organic Agriculture Cooperative in 2016 with 6 members. As a director, he has instructed the cooperative members in farming and processing organic pork attached to consumption following the 3F (Feed-Farm-Food) close process.

The farming scale of the cooperative is 1,000 sows and 10,000 pigs. Hai and his partners have successfully established the trademark “Binh Minh herbal pork” and many 3 and 4-star OCOP products (such as herbal pork, pork pie and sausage) to supply supermarkets, clean food store chains and school kitchens in Bac Giang and other localities.

The cooperative has created stable jobs for tens of workers at an average income of 10 million VND (400 USD) for each per month. In line with doing business and production well, Hai has actively participated in building new-style rural areas, poverty production and supporting epidemic and natural disaster prevention.

Also on this occasion, Huong Son safe pineapple cooperative in Huong Son commune was awarded the title “typical cooperative nationwide in 2024”. Starting its operation since 2021, the cooperative currently has 50 official members and 50 joint venture members to participate in cultivating pineapple on the total area of about 100 hectares.

Most of the cultivation area follows VietGAP standards and applies off-season pineapple farming techniques to increase productivity and economic efficiency. All of the products have been consumed by the cooperative and a number of agricultural firms.

The cooperative sells about 4,000 tonnes of pineapple each year earning an annual turnover of some 4 billion VND (160,224 USD). Besides, the pineapple product was rated 3-star OCOP and honoured as the typical agricultural product in 2023.

In 2023, the cooperative collaborated to build and bring into use 2 traffic road projects to the pineapple farming areas with the total length of nearly 3km to facilitate production and consumption of this local key product.

Bac Giang plans production area towards modern agriculture

BAC GIANG - In implementation of the cooperation agreement between Bac Giang and Laos’ Xaysomboun provinces, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Bac Giang province has carried out 4 plantation and livestock models in the counterpart province. Besides, 4 other models will be implemented by Bac Giang province in coming time.

Bac Giang has 12 typical intensive citrus farming models.

BAC GIANG – The northern province of Bac Giang now develops about 8,600 hectares of citrus trees (oranges and pomelos) with an annual output of about 75-80,000 tonnes, estimated to be worth 1.6 - 1.7 trillion VND (68.9 -72.3 million USD), reported the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
