Vietnam considers opening direct flights to Poland, Czechia, Switzerland after visa waivers

Updated: 14:26, 13/03/2025

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has proposed that domestic airlines launch direct flights to Poland, Czechia, and Switzerland following the government's decision to waive visas for citizens of these countries.

Since March 1, Vietnam has granted visa-free entry for up to 45 days to their citizens traveling on package tours, adding to a list of 25 countries enjoying visa-free entry.

A Vietnam Airlines aircraft lands at Noi Bai Airport in Hanoi.

Airlines are encouraged to collaborate with the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism to develop attractive travel packages to draw more visitors from these nations.

In the first two months of this year, Vietnam welcomed over 21,000 Polish visitors, a 54% increase year-on-year, and more than 8,000 Swiss tourists, up 14%.

The country aims to attract 22–23 million foreign tourists by the end of this year after receiving 17.6 million last year.

Vietnam Airlines operates several routes to European destinations, including the U.K., France, Germany, and Russia. It plans to introduce new routes to Italy this summer.
