These festivities are closely associated with the 50th anniversary of Hue's liberation (March 26, 1975 – March 26, 2025) and other notable national milestones. Furthermore, this occasion will commemorate Hue’s designation as a centrally governed city.
The primary objective of this event is to highlight and promote Vietnam’s tangible and intangible cultural heritage, distinctive tourism assets, and local specialties, particularly those unique to Hue.
It is anticipated that this initiative will create new opportunities, optimise the city’s potential, and establish Hue as a premier tourism destination, drawing domestic and international visitors while contributing to local economic development.
Moreover, the festival aims to strengthen tourism connections among provinces throughout Vietnam, thereby enhancing regional and interregional tourism growth. This initiative will elevate the Vietnamese tourism image, reputation, and brand, with Hue leading the way on the global stage.
The opening ceremony is scheduled at 8:10 p.m. on March 25 along the Huong (Perfume) River.
The event will feature a semi-realistic performance staged on water and land, blending water screens, visual mapping, LED floor displays, pyrotechnic effects, hot air balloons, paragliding, dense smoke effects, and an immersive sound and lighting setup.
The 90- to 100-minute ceremony will be broadcast live on VTV1, promising a spectacular audiovisual experience that highlights Hue's cultural essence.
Throughout the year, a series of activities will take place, including a spring festival from January to March, a summer festival from April to June, an autumn festival from July to September, and a winter festival from October to December. The event will conclude with a New Year’s Eve countdown party on December 31 to welcome 2026.
