The working group for community affairs of the Vietnamese Embassy in Ukraine reported that associations and organizations of Vietnamese people successfully held many events during the Vietnamese Culture Year in Ukraine in 2018. Those activities popularised images of the Vietnamese land and people in Ukraine and the wish to cooperate with the administration and people of the European nation.

The working group highly valued the associations and organizations’ efforts to build a united and disciplined community that has been upholding fine cultural traditions of Vietnam and passing them down to younger generations.

Representatives of the communities in Kharkov, Odessa, Kiev and Chernovsu noted many difficulties facing Vietnamese people in Ukraine. They also put forth proposals to reinforce Vietnamese associations in the country.

Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Anh Tuan appreciated the key cadres’ dedication to social work, along with the expatriates’ mutual support.

Despite numerous difficulties, Vietnamese people made considerable contributions to the two countries’ relations in 2018, he added.

At the meeting, participants set up major orientations for the community-related work and citizen support in 2019 and the following years.

Forum talks Vietnam-Ukraine relations in new stage

A get-together was held in Canada on February 2 by the Canada-Vietnam Society (CVS) to celebrate the traditional Lunar New Year (Tet) of Vietnam.
