In Song Cung village, Tan Hung commune (Lang Giang district), from the early morning, youth union members, young people and village officials, along with officers and soldiers of Brigade 673 stationed in the area have been busy decorating the hall in preparation for the festival. Games such as tug of war, stick pushing, football and soft volleyball have been organized with the enthusiastic participation and cheering of crowds of people, officers and soldiers.

According to Nguyen Van Bac, head of the village’s front work board, not only participating in mass activities, but soldiers have also helped people develop their economy, build houses of gratitude, clean up the environment and improve their livelihoods.

At the recent great national unity festival, the people of Doai village, Bac Ly commune (Hiep Hoa district) gathered at the cultural house from the early morning and sat down to drink water, chat and inquire each other’s work and family life. Opening the festival were dances and songs praising the love for the homeland and the country performed by members of the women's union and elderly people. People in the village were divided into four teams to play soft volleyball. The cheers of the audience made the atmosphere on the ground more exciting, giving strength to athletes to compete passionately.

Nguyen Thi Phu (77 years old) said with excitement that "Every year, the Great National Unity Day is the one when most people in the village expect the most. The people are always united and eager to work. They live in harmony and love each other". 

The face of Doai village is changing markedly, with clean and beautiful village roads and well-built welfare facilities. The people in the village actively seek ways to boost economic development and escape from poverty. The culture, arts and sports movements take place bustlingly.

At the residential group 2A, Tran Nguyen Han ward (Bac Giang city), the atmosphere of the festive day has been spreading in each alley. Le Thi Thuan, a local resident, said that because of the busy daily work, people rarely have chances to exchange with each other, so the festival is an opportunity for them to meet, visit and encourage each other in life.

People in the residential group 2A always take the lead in movements such as "All people unite to build new-style rural areas and civilized urban areas", donating to the "For the poor" fund, and helping families in difficult circumstances. Households encourage each other to well implement a cultural lifestyle, especially in weddings and funerals.

The common point in organizing the Great National Unity Festival in the residential areas is that ceremonies and festive activities are organized in a practical and thorough manner in various forms, ensuring a thrift but still solemnity and warmth. 

Many art performances performed by the people themselves, especially traditional arts forms such as Quan ho (love duet) and Then singing and games like soft volleyball, badminton, football, tug of war and stick pushing. These make the atmosphere of the festive day more bustling, contributing to the preservation and promotion of traditional cultural values.

To prepare for organizing the festival in the whole province, the Standing Board of the provincial Fatherland Front Committee has worked out plans and guided the front work boards in residential areas to well organize activities in the Great National Unity Festival, ensuring the festival is organized in solemn, practical, effective and thrifty manner. This is an opportunity for people in residential areas to share their feelings and experience in doing business. 

At the same time, it is also a chance to solve problems and conflicts in the community in order to together build the village and foster the neighborliness, thus building the great national unity bloc and making the homeland more prosperous and civilized. With residential areas where military units are stationed, the festival offers a chance to foster the close attachment between soldiers and people.
