5,800 gifts presented to needy students by women’s union in Bac Giang

BAC GIANG - In order to encourage orphans and needy children on the new-school year occasion, the women’s unions at all levels in Bac Giang province have launched the peak time of the “Accompany children to school” programme.

The peak time of the campaign lasts 3 months (from June). Accordingly, each grassroots- level women’s union is targeted to organize at least 1 gift-giving activity for orphans and needy children in the localities.

For effective implementation, the provincial Women’s Union has directed its junior unions to review and make the list of needy children prioritizing orphans and homeless children for supporting activities.

Besides, they have fostered mobilizing the union members, women, businesses and sponsors for locality-based donation. A series of gift-giving activities were held on the 2023-2024 new-school year opening day.

The provincial Women’s Union has collaborated with the provincial Association for Promoting Education to give 100 gift packages worth nearly 200 million VND (8,464 USD) for orphaned students.

The women’s union of Hiep Hoa district give gifts and sponsoring fund to the students of Chau Minh primary school on the new-school year occasion.

After the peak campaign, the women’s unions at all levels have mobilized fund to present 5,800 gift packages to orphans and needy children including 551 bicycles, nearly 2,800 gifts, scholarships and nearly 1,900 sets of school supplies. The total donation valued 2.3 billion VND (97,300 USD).

The “Accompany children to school” programme on new-school year occasion is a humanitarian activity showing the arduous attention and sharing of the women’s unions to students, orphans and needy children in the locality. This meaningful programme has widely spread, connected and mobilized a number of organizations, units and individuals to join hands with the women’s unions in the province to help the children ease the burden on the way to school.
