Apple hiring Vietnamese-speaking AI engineers for Siri
The firm said it was looking for "highly motivated Vietnamese-speaking engineers, with strong software engineering skills and high sensibility for foreign languages and cultures."

Key qualifications include fluency in Vietnamese, the ability to work in an English-speaking environment, strong software engineering fundamentals, analytic mindset and problem solving and critical thinking skills.
While the company has not announced the salary range for the position, chosen engineers would work at the Apple office in Singapore.
Siri is a virtual assistant available on several Apple devices. Users can enlist Siri's help to look for information and perform different tasks. Siri currently supports 41 languages, but only Thai and Malay are available in Southeast Asia.
The fact that Apple is looking for personnel with the above qualifications is a sign that Siri might support Vietnamese language in the future, though the exact timeframe has not been clearly defined.
Domestic users can then speak Vietnamese to instruct Siri to perform tasks like making calls, reading text messages and looking up directions on the road.
Previously in 2020, Apple also wanted to hire Vietnamese-speaking personnel, which might have been for the development of Siri assistants for Vietnamese users. But so far, no such announcement on a Vietnamese Siri has been made.
Out of the three major virtual assistants currently available: Google Assistant, Siri and Alexa, only Google supports Vietnamese.
Apple has been introducing and launching new services in Vietnam in recent times.
The Apple Store Online was opened in May 2023, Apple Pay was made available in August 2023, and the firm has been sending map data-collecting cars to Vietnam since February to support Apple Maps' functions.
