ASEAN Film Week 2020 to take place in three major cities

The ASEAN Film Week 2020 is scheduled to take place in the three major cities of Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City from July 18-26, 2020, to celebrate Vietnam’s year holding the ASEAN Chairmanship.

The film week will screen nine films from nine ASEAN member countries, including eight feature films and one animated film.

The Vietnamese movie “Hanh phuc của Me” (The Happiness of a Mother), which won the Golden Kite Award 2019 in the feature category, will be shown at the opening night at the National Cinema Centre in Hanoi.

The film week will also screen other films including Ranggau, Thousand Incarnations (Brunei), Young Love (Cambodia), Aruna Dan Lidahnya (Indonesia), Expiration Date (Laos), Ejen Ali the Movie (Malaysia), Women of the Weeping River (the Philippines), The Wayang Kids (Singapore) and App War (Thailand).

The event aims to celebrate the Vietnam’s 2020 ASEAN Chairmanship and to promote the images, landscapes, and cultural values of Vietnam.

In Hanoi, the film week will take place at the National Cinema Centre from July 18-22 with the opening ceremony scheduled for 19:30 on July 18.

Free tickets will be offered to audiences at cinema venues.
