Average wage in 2017 increases by 9.3%: MOLISA

The average salary of workers in 2017 was VND6.6 million per month, up 9.3% compared to 2016 (at VND6 million a month). The salary increase was higher than the regional minimum wage increase of 2017 (at 7.3%).

The average salary of workers in 2017 rose 9.3% compared to 2016.

According to data compiled by the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) taken from all 63 localities across the nation, the highest average salary was paid to employees in one member limited liability companies with 100% of charter capital held by the State, with the average monthly salary in 2017 reaching VND7.9 million, up 4.5% compared to 2016 (VND7.5 million/month).

The second highest paid salary came to companies with State-contributed capital, at VND7.3 million per month, up 4.6% compared to 2016 (VND7 million a month).

The foreign-invested enterprises saw the highest increase in average monthly salaries.

Meanwhile, foreign-invested enterprises saw the highest increase in average monthly salaries, up 13.5% from VND5.9 million in 2016 to VND6.7 million for 2017.

Private enterprises had an average monthly salary of VND5.6 million, up 3.3% compared to 2016 (VND5.4 million /month).

In 2017, the national socio-economic situation continued to develop positively and was clearly reflected through such indicators as the growth rate of gross domestic product (GDP) at 6.81%, exceeding the set target of 6.7% and higher than 2016 statistic (at 6.21%); and the average CPI in 2017 increased by 3.53% (2016 up by 2.66%). Based on that rubric, employee salaries in 2017 saw many positive improvements over 2016.
