The provincial General Hospital had developed a plan and fully prepared all the conditions necessary for safe vaccinations.
Luc Nam district, which recorded two Covid-19 cases in this outbreak, was chosen by the provincial Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control to have their frontline medical workers vaccinated in the first drive. At the injection site of the district Medical Center, 330 people are expected to get shots between March 11 and 13. On March 11 alone, 142 of them were injected.
Vice Chairman of the district People's Committee Duong Cong Dinh, who is also standing deputy head of the district Steering Committee for Covid-19 prevention and control, said in the implementation process, in addition to ensuring vaccination safety, the locality must strictly comply with technical regulations to prevent cross-contamination of SARS-CoV-2 at injection sites.
Nurse Nguyen Thi Dung, who performs the vaccination task at Luc Nam district’s Medical Center, said this is a daily task of each staff at the centre. However, this is a new vaccine, so my colleagues and I were trained to update knowledge about this vaccine. When performing the task, we always strictly follow the vaccination procedure.
In addition, before the injection, all target people have to undergo medical screening and carefully report their history of underlying diseases, allergy, and anaphylaxis to ensure the safest and most effective vaccination.
AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccination consists of two intramuscular shots, each with 0.5ml. The second dose is injected 12 weeks away from the first one, for people over 18 years old.
To ensure safety, the provincial Center for Disease Control has arranged staff to supervise the vaccination process at each injection table, ensuring the availability of means for timely shock handling toward absolute safety.
Tu Quoc Hieu, Director of the Department of Health, deputy head of the provincial Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control, said: Covid-19 vaccination is an important measure to proactively prevent and control the pandemic effectively. However, people should remain vigilant against the disease despite having the vaccine. Authorities at all levels and each citizen must still regularly and proactively observe regulations on epidemic prevention and control, ensuring safety for themselves and the community.
