Updated: 16:15, 20/08/2019
(BGO) – With the spirit “The leaves protect tattered ones”, the movement “Each organization or individual attaches to a humanitarian address” launched by the Red Cross Society in Bac Giang province has mobilized a huge source to support the poor under specific address.

Particularly after the letter of Bui Van Hai, Member of the Central Party Committee, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People’s Council was aired in October 2017, many philanthropists have actively donated to bring more hope to the poorest.

Mobilise various sources, support appropriate subjects

“Each organization or individual attaches to a humanitarian address” is a thorough movement to link the humanitarian task of the Red Cross Society (RCS) at all levels so as to support the specific addresses.

The staff of provincial Red Cross Society, nurses and doctors at provincial General Hospital donate to the “Humanitarian Box” placed at the hospital.

Now, all RCS chapters in the province raise the Humanitarian fund. Since 2010, a total of nearly 34 billion VND (over 1.4 million USD) has been donated to help some 8,000 poor households (accounting for nearly 94 percent of the survey figure).

To maximise the source mobilization, Secretary Bui Van Hai issued the letter to call for the donations from the organization, enterprise and individual in October 2017 to support the most difficult cases in the province.

After nearly 2 years, over 6.5 billion VND (over 280,800 USD) was raised by 35 organizations, businesses and kind-hearted people to support 988 specially disadvantaged households in the province (up 745 households comparing to the initial reviewing period) with total of more than 3.800 beneficiaries.

The Vice Chairwoman of the provincial RCS Le Thi Duyen said there are many households living in special difficulties among more than 33,100 poor families in the province. Annually, the provincial RCS instructs the grass roots levels to regularly grasp the circumstances to know the condition of each household so as to timely detect and directly verify the case before preparing the profile.

Basing on that, a suitable method of support will be proposed then the provincial RCS acts as the bridge to link and invite the donors to join the gifting activities.

Leaving no one behind

In spite of small material value, gifts from the kind-hearted people are warm humane sharing with practical meaning to partly help the impoverished cases overcome the difficulties to improve their livings.

In 2016, Thao’s brother suffers from kidney failure and has to take regular dialysis to stay alive, hence the family economy was exhausted. Luckily, since the academic year 2017 – 2018, Thao has presented the support amount of 500,000 VND (21.6 USD) per month by the Kind Heart Foundation. The gift brings Thao more chance to go to school.

Additionally, the Violet Rose Club (under the provincial RCS) has a creative way to calling for the donation. Since 2017, the club has raised total expense of over 500 million VND (21,600 USD) to help the difficult people to revamp their houses and prepare 4 humanitarian porridge and meal at several hospitals.

Recently, the club has persuaded the Association for Women Entrepreneurs, Vietnam Association of Small and Medium Enterprises to support Doan Thi Yen (born in 1960) in Chua village, Tan Hiep commune (Yen The district) to build the humanitarian house. The club also gifted 5 million VND (216 USD).

To promote the role of humanitarian bridge, in the upcoming time all RCS levels will further boost up communicating the humane activities to support the poor, hence mobilizing all community sources for charity, calling the organization and enterprises to register supporting the needy under specific address so as to ensure the sustainability and suit to individual demand.
