A representative of the department provided detailed information on the lychee production this year in Bac Giang province. Specifically, the province has more than 28,000 hectares of lychees, with an estimated output of 180,000 tonnes. Of the total, 15,200 hectares are under VietGap standard, with output estimated at 125,000 tonnes; 219.4 hectares are for producing lychees to be exported to Japan with 30 planting area codes and 218 hectares for growing lychees for export to the US and the EU with 18 planting area codes, with an estimated output of 1,850 tonnes. 

Bac Giang promotes lychee consumption through Vinmart and Vinmart + retail system.

The province continues to direct the specialized agencies to guide people to maintain the lychee areas for export to China with 149 planting area codes, equivalent to 15,867 hectares. Currently lychees are in the flowering stage, with the flowering rate of about 90-95 percent for early ripening lychees and 80-85 percent for main-crop lychees. The early ripening lychees are expected to be harvested from May 15 to June 10 while the main-crop ones from June 10 to July 15.

A representative of Vinmart and Vinmart + retail system affirmed that Bac Giang lychee is a famous product with high quality and strong consumption, both domestically and internationally. Therefore, the unit wants to officially cooperate and sign a contract to sell this agricultural product with the locality. It also said that the Vinmart and Vinmart + retail system is the supermarket chain with the largest coverage in the country, with 2,622 stores and supermarkets in 50 provinces and cities, including 15 in Bac Giang. It is expected that in 2021 the chain will sell about 1,000 tonnes of Bac Giang lychee.

To prepare for the successful promotion of lychee consumption in 2021, the two units also discussed the conditions and procedures for signing the contract as well as ways of transporting lychees, organizing activities during the Luc Ngan lychee week at Vinmart and Vinmart + retail system in Hanoi and promoting communications about this event. On this occasion, the representative of the Vinmart and Vinmart + retail system also wanted to have a long-term cooperation in the sale of key and typical agricultural products of the province.
