Speaking at the ceremony, Dang Dinh Hoan, Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Giang city, stated that during the resistance wars against French colonialism and US imperialism, Bac Giang province was honoured to welcome President Ho Chi Minh five times, of which the leader met and talked with the Party Organisation and people of all ethnic groups in the province at Stand A (now Stand B) of Bac Giang Stadium two times in 1961 and 1963.
“This is a pride and great honour for the city,” he stressed.
With that great significance, on June 21, 1993, Stand B of the Stadium of Bac Giang township was recognised as a national historical relic site by the Ministry of Culture and Information (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism).
The relic site covers an area of more than 2,200 sq.m. The project renovated and repaired such items as the relic sign, gates, flagpoles, stone steles, fences, trees, courtyards, and grandstands for long-term protection and promotion of the relic site’s value. A relief themed "Uncle Ho with officials and people of Bac Giang province" has been installed and an exhibition space has been renovated to express the sentiments and deep gratitude of the Bac Giang people towards Uncle Ho.
After a period of active construction, the project to renovate and embellish the national historical relic site of Stand B has been completed, meeting requirements for quality, techniques, aesthetics and architecture in accordance with the approved drawing.
The work is of important significance, becoming a "red address" of Bac Giang city to educate the homeland's revolutionary traditions as well as popularise the life and career of President Ho Chi Minh to the younger generation.
