Bac Giang wins 9 medals at National Chinese Chess Team Championship
BAC GIANG - After 7 days of exciting and fierce competition, the 2024 National Chinese Chess Team Championship wrapped up on September 25. Bac Giang delegation won 9 medals of various types. The tournament was jointly organized by the Vietnam Chess Federation and the Department of Culture and Sports of Da Nang.
The event attracted more than 210 male and female players from 18 units and clubs of provinces and cities with strong chess movements who competed in the following categories of blitz chess, rapid chess, standard chess, traditional blitz chess, traditional rapid chess, traditional chess.

The Bac Giang delegation brought 20 players to the tournament (18 men, 2 women), including many young athletes under the age of 11 to 20.
The Bac Giang delegation won 9 medals of all kinds, including 4 Gold Medals awarded to Bui Xuan Hiep, Luong Minh Ngoc (traditional rapid chess mixed doubles); Tran Anh Dung, Luong Minh Ngoc (traditional blitz mixed doubles); Tran Anh Dung, Luong Minh Ngoc (traditional chess mixed doubles).

Notably, for the first time, Bac Giang team had a player winning a gold medal in the individual standard chess event (Vu Hong Son). Also at this playground, Bac Giang team of Chinese chess set a record when it had the youngest athlete to win a bronze medal in the individual traditional blitz chess and a silver medal in the traditional blitz chess team event, that was 11-year-old player Hoang Manh Hung.
The tournament is an opportunity for experts to select outstanding athletes for the national team to prepare for major tournaments in Southeast Asia, Asia and world tournaments in the near future.
