Bac Giang works to help workers settle down for prosperous life
BAC GIANG - Understanding the people’s desire for a stable home to have a prosperous life, in recent years, the Party and State have launched many social welfare programmes, among which the most notable is the project to build at least 1 million social housing units for low-income groups and industrial park workers from 2021 to 2030. This project helps people secure housing and feel secure in living and working, contributing to the development of businesses and localities.
At rush hours, the social housing area for workers in Nenh ward (Viet Yen township) is bustling with activity. The housing complex spans over 3.2 hectares with multiple high-rise buildings and utility services.

At night, the area is brightly lit, sparkling like a small city. Many residents are happy to live in these modern buildings.
Than Quang Thanh from My An commune, Chu township, working at the Van Trung Industrial Park, feels at ease having owned a 54sq.m apartment since April 2024.
He cheerfully shared, “If we only saved up from my monthly worker’s salary, my wife and I could hardly afford a house. Thanks to preferential loans and long-term repayment plans, we now own an apartment instead of renting. The complex also has a kindergarten and many other services, which are very convenient for families.”
Like Thanh, thousands of workers, both local and from other provinces, have recently been given t he opportunity to purchase social housing. The development of social housing is a major policy that the Party and State are focusing on.
Following the central government's directions, in recent years, alongside a strong focus on economic development, Bac Giang has consistently paid attention to developing social housing to meet the people's housing needs, contributing to building a solid social welfare system and ensuring comprehensive development in line with Bac Giang’s vision of becoming a modern industrial province.
To date, the province has implemented 14 projects across a total area of 60.56 hectares, with an ivestment of nearly 19.8 trillion VND (760.9 million USD), expected to form about 29,000 housing units. More than 5,000 units have already been completed and put into use, helping people settle down and work with peace of mind.
As an industrially developed locality that is attracting an increasing number of workers, Bac Giang has been tasked by the government to build approximately 70,000 social housing units from 2025 to 2030. Specifically, 5,243 units are expected to be completed in 2025.
Building on the achievements made and following actual circumstances, the province has decisively directed the implementation of the set goals.
According to Nguyen Ngoc Son, Deputy Director of the Department of Construction, the department is urging project developers who have been granted construction permits to focus resources to speed up the project progress, aiming to complete 5,594 units in 2025, surpassing the assigned target.
During an inspection of the one-million social housing project in Bac Giang in early April, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Van Sinh praised the province's proactive involvement in the project.
The province has adhered closely to plans and directives, helping many low-income workers secure homes, allowing them to work with peace of mind.

The Deputy Minister recommended that the province continue to focus on reviewing and approving new investment projects. For projects that have been granted construction permits, attention should be paid to ensuring the completion of more social houses in the coming time.
For 2025, projects that are listed as mandatory for completion should be given special attention to accelerate progress. Administrative procedure reforms should also be prioritised so that projects can be launched and put into operation as soon as possible.
Recognising that caring for workers and helping them secure stable housing is an important factor in attracting effective investments, the provincial authorities have tasked the Department of Construction with continuing to supervise and resolve difficulties for projects currently involved in compensation, land clearance, and investment preparation.
